Exercising in safety post-stroke
Strokes can have very different repercussions depending on the individual. This being said, many stroke survivors have to overcome balance and walking impairments during stroke recovery. In these situations, the use of proper equipment (stationary bike, etc.) and/or close supervision and support during an exercise session is very important for people recovering from a stroke. Such measures will ease the mind of the client, exercise professional and reduce the risks of fall or injury.
Ultimately, an individual recovering from a stroke should have a say in what equipment will be used (assuming this choice does not pose a risk to them) in order to ensure safety and comfort during their exercise sessions.
